A simple and cost-effective solution for marking and checking tube notches during fabrication.

Designed and 3D printed in-house by GizFab, our Tube Contour Gauges use individual sections of 1.6mm welding filler rod to conform to the profile of adjoining tube, allowing that shape to be transferred onto the tube you're preparing to notch.

Ideal for exhaust fabrication, roll cages, chassis work, manifolds and general tubular fabrication.

How Does It Work?

The perimeter of the gauge contains a series of holes designed to accept individual pieces of 1.6mm welding filler rod.

With the rods installed, the gauge is positioned over the end of the tube being fabricated.

The filler rods can then be pushed against the adjoining tube or component, allowing each rod to independently follow its surface.

Together, the rods reproduce the contour required for the notch.

The resulting profile can then be transferred onto the tube as a guide for cutting and final preparation.

This is particularly useful when producing joints at unusual angles where repeatedly cutting, grinding and trial-fitting by eye can become time-consuming.

They're intended as a fabrication aid rather than a precision measuring instrument, so final fitment should always be checked and adjusted before welding.

What You Receive

The advertised price is for the 3D-printed contour gauge only.

You will need to supply:

• 1.6mm Welding Filler Rod
• Elastic Band or Suitable O-Ring

The filler rod is cut into individual sections and inserted through the perimeter holes.

An elastic band or appropriately sized O-ring can then be fitted around the outside of the gauge to provide light resistance and help retain the rods while still allowing them to move when taking a profile.

Filler rod, elastic bands and O-rings are NOT supplied.

3D Printed In-House

Each contour gauge is 3D printed in-house by GizFab, allowing us to produce a useful fabrication tool without the cost associated with machining a conventional metal fixture.

As a functional 3D-printed workshop tool, visible layer lines and minor cosmetic variations are completely normal and do not affect its intended operation.

Important Information

These gauges are designed as a marking and fabrication aid only.

Always verify the final tube fitment before welding. The accuracy of the finished notch will depend on correct use of the gauge, filler rod positioning, marking accuracy and the cutting method used.

12-Month Warranty*

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against manufacturing defects for a period of 12 months from purchase.

Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect.

The warranty does not cover normal workshop wear, heat damage, cutting or grinding damage, excessive force, modification or misuse.
